Preliminary Particulars
A major reconstruction and refurbishment by Cityshape PLC to create 6
large family homes with off street parking and fine views with open aspect
secluded gardens. This development scheme will be available for occupation
from Spring 2004.
Location
Highgate Village was part of the Bishop of London's hunting grounds in
medieval times and entry to this once densely wooded hilltop was via a
guarded gate leading to the name of Highgate.
The historic high street runs through a range of architectural styles
through shops, bars, old coaching inns and restaurants. Highgate Boys
School, which occupies a central site in the village, is one of London's
oldest and most distinguished boys' public schools. Channing offers a
similar opportunity to local daughters aged 5-18 years old. Nearby is
the world famous Highgate cemetery, the final resting place of Karl Marx
among others.
Hampstead Heath is visible from Birch House. A short walk down Fitzroy
Park will reach both the Heath and Highgate Ponds, where the acres of
heath and woodland hold many unexpected treasures including the magnificent
Kenwood House - one of London's finest 16th century residential mansions,
the home of the Iveagh Bequest art collection, and the site of the series
of open air summer concerts.
Speedy links with the City and West End of London are achieved from the
local Highgate tube on the Northern line. The North Circular, A1, M1,
M11, M40 and M4 are all accessible within 1 to 10 miles.
Retail therapy is open ended. Brent Cross within 10 minutes drive offers
a newly extended shopping centre and Harrods, Bond Street, Oxford Street
and Regent Street are all within a 30-minute drive. Health facilities
are excellent; the newly re-opened Whittington Hospital and the Highgate
Clinic are within a short walk. Keen golfers are spoilt for choice since
both Highgate and Hampstead Golf courses are within a one mile radius
with their manicured fairways and challenging course layouts.
Accommodation
Each house will have 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms o first and upper floors
(and) together with a study and reception room on the ground floor and
a kitchen/family room on the garden floor, as well as a cloakroom and
shower room adjoining a further room designed to be responsive to changing
